Age limit:       Minimum 14 years of age as on 1.08.2013. and

 no upper-age limit.

Entry qualification:

for 'E' Group trades Passed Class VIII and for 'M' Group 

trades Passed Madhyamik or equivalent examination.


Application fee:

 For M-Group Rs. 100/- form and For E-Group Rs. 125/- For other boards of both group extra Rs. 100/-.

ADMISSION OF TRAINEES TO INDUSTRIAL TRAINING INSTITUTES (I.T.I.), WEST BENGAL FOR THE SESSION COMMENCING FROM AUGUST’ 2012.

 Applications from the candidates are invited in prescribed format, for admission in the Industrial Training Institutes, Industrial Training Centres and Junior Polytechnic of the State for undergoing training in Trade Courses under Craftsman Training Scheme under National Council for Vocational Training (N.C.V.T) in the Session commencing from August’2012.

 Eligibility of Applicants : Only those candidates passed in the respective qualifying examination from any of the Institutes located within the State of West Bengal (under any Board / Council) shall be eligible for admission in Govt. ITIs , ITCs and Junior Polytechnic. Candidates passed in the respective qualifying examination from any of the Institutes located within the State of West Bengal and recognized by the Board / Council other than the Board / Council of West Bengal are to enclose a certificate issued by the Head of the Institute from where the qualifying examination is obtained stating the location of the Institute, if full address of the Institute is not mentioned in the Admit Card / Marksheet / Certificate etc. The candidate who will appear in AITT held on July-August’ 2012 for the trade course under CTS & CoE(BBBT & Advance Module) are not eligible to apply for the admission in the ensuing session starting from August’2012.

 Courses are categorized as per entry qualification in the following groups as under :

1. ‘E’ Group of Trades: Passed in Class –VIII. Selection will be made in order of merit on the basis of a written test in Mathematics and Physical Science to be held on Sunday, the 3rd June, 2012. Time and Venue of Admission test will be displayed at the Institute Notice Board where application is submitted. Applicants will appear in the admission test on producing receipt of the application form. No separate admit cards will be issued. Courses offered for ‘E’ Group Trade: a) Two year courses: Painter (General), Wireman b) One Year courses: Welder(Gas & Electric), Plumber, Foundry men, Building Construction, Carpenter, Sheet Metal Worker, Cutting & Sewing, Manufacturing of Footwear and Leather Goods Maker. c) 6 Months course: Sanitary Hardware Fitter.

2. ‘M’ Group of Trades: Passed in Madhyamik or equivalent examination. Selection will be made on the basis of marks obtained in Madhyamik or its equivalent examination. Courses offered for ‘M’ Group Trade: a) Three Years Course: Tool & Die Maker. b) Two year Courses: Draughtsman Mechanical, Draughtsman Civil, Electrician, Fitter, Electronic Mechanic, Grinder, Instrument Mechanic, Machinist, Mechanic (Radio & TV), Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic, Surveyor, Turner, Mechanic (Motor Vehicle), Information Technology & Electronic System Maintenance. c) One year Courses: Plastic Processing Operator, Dress Making, Hair & Skin Care, Mechanic (Diesel).

 3. ‘H’ Group of Trade: Passed in Higher Secondary or its equivalent examination in 10+2 system. Selection will be made on the basis of marks obtained in Higher Secondary or its equivalent examination .Courses offered for ‘H’ Group Trade: a) One year courses: Computer Operator & Programming Assistant(COPA), Stenography(English),Secretarial Practice and Desktop Publishing b) 6 month courses : Network Technician.

 4. ‘B’ Group of Trade : Admission will be made in the Govt. ITIs which are upgraded into Centres of Excellence for undergoing Broad Based Basic Training of 1 (one) year in different sectors of ‘Automobile’, ‘Production & Manufacturing’, ‘Instrumentation’, ‘Chemical’, ‘Electrical’, ‘Information Technology’, ‘Construction and Wood Working’, ‘Fabrication (Fitting & Welding)’, ‘Apparel’, ‘Agricultural Machinery’ ‘Food Processing’, ‘Electronics’ & ‘Hospitality’ etc.. Entry qualification for this course is the same as prescribed for ‘M’Group.

 Age Limits: Age of the Candidates should not be less than 14 years on 1st August , 2012. There is no upper age limit for the candidates seeking admission in Industrial Training Institutes/Centres. Male candidates can also apply for admission in the running trades in the 4(four ) Women ITIs provided they are within the prescribed age limit and are otherwise eligible for the respective trades. However, they will only be considered for admission if sufficient number of female candidates are not available.
 Seat Reservation: Reservation of seats will be made as per existing Government Rules as follows : 22% for SC, 6%for ST and 3%for Physically Handicapped Candidates. 10% of seats in General ITIs and ITCs are reserved for Women. Seats are to be filled up maintaining percentage from the following categories of candidates.: (a) 40% of the total seats shall be kept reserved for the candidates who have completed their qualifying examination from any of the institute located within the concerned district (i.e district quota ). Kolkata, North 24 Paraganas & South 24 Parganas will be treated as unit district. .For availing district quota seats, applicants are to enclose a school certificate issued by the head of the Institute from where the qualifying examination is passed if full address of the institute is not mentioned in the Admit Card / Marksheet / Certificate. (b) For IMC sponsored candidates, only 10% seats will be kept reserved to those ITIs which have been upgraded only under PPP Scheme of Govt. of India, subject to approval of the Govt. (c) Rest 50% (where CoE in PPP mode exists) or 60% (where CoE in PPP mode does not exist ) are to be filled by the candidate not falling within (a) and (b) above. (e) If seats as mentioned above are found to remain vacant due to non availability of reserved category of candidates, they shall be filled up by the candidates from unreserved category. Application Forms : Application formats and instruction sheet for filling will be available in the website of the Directorate of Industrial Training , Govt. of West Bengal.( www.ditwb.org. ). Format of application forms for each group and instruction sheet for filling will also be available in the Notice Board of all the Government ITIs, ITCs and Junior Polytechnic . Application formats and instruction sheets will also be displayed on the Notice Board at District Collector Office/ SDO Office nearest to the ITI/ITC / Junior Polytechnic. Formats neatly typed in plain papers and filled in by handwriting would be accepted.
 Filled in application forms along with the prescribed fees will be received at the institutes in which admission is sought, on all working days from 9th April’2012 to 11th May, 2012 from 11-00am to 3-00pm. The last date of submission of duly filled in application form is 11th May, 2012 upto 4- 00pm. Candidate intending for admission in any institute is required to submit the Admission Form in the said institute only. Attested copies of qualifying examination and age proof are to be enclosed with the application. For availing the benefits of reserved seats necessary certificate as are mentioned in the instruction sheet is/are also to be enclosed. Claim for benefit of admission in any reserved seat without certificate from competent authority would not be entertained.

 Fees to be deposited along with the filled in applications form for all categories of candidates (in cash only):

1. With the form for E Group trades : Rs.125/-(One Hundred Twenty Five Only) per form 2. with the form for B /M /H Group trades : Rs.100/-(One Hundred Only) per form The candidates passed /appeared from any institute recognised by any Board / Council other than Board / Council of West Bengal will have to pay an additional amount of Rs. 100/- (one hundred only) by Cash at the time of submission of filled in application form for verification of Mark Sheet.
Candidates who have appeared in Madhyamik or Higher Secondary Examination this year will be allowed to submit applications within 10 (consecutive) days from the date of announcement of results of concerned examination only in case the results of the concerned examination are not published within 11th May, 2012. Incorrect / illegible /incomplete applications or those containing incorrect information will be rejected whenever detected. Merit Panels of eligible candidates are likely to be published by the 3rd / 4th week of June’ 2012. Note: Applicants may note that all the admitted trainees are to qualify in a “IT Literacy (Basic Computer Course) at their own cost before appearing the ITI final examination (All India Trade Test).

Monthly Tuition fee and any other fees are to be deposited by the trainees within first week of each month. Director Directorate of Industrial Training in prescribed formats from candidates intending to get admission in the Industrial Training Institutes, Industrial Training Centres and Junior Polytechnic of the State for undergoing training in Trade Courses under Craftsmen Training Scheme under National Council for Vocational Training (N.C.V.T) in the Session commencing from August’2012. Only those candidates passed in the respective qualifying examination from any of the Institutes located within the State of West Bengal shall be eligible for admission in Govt. ITIs & ITCs and Junior Polytechnic. The candidate who will appear in AITT held on July-August’ 2012 for the trade course of CTS, BBBT & Advance Module are not eligible to apply for the admission in the ensuing session started from August’2012.

Application format and instruction sheet will be available in the website of the Directorate of Industrial Training, West Bengal ( www.ditwb.org ). Application formats and instruction sheets will also be displayed at the institute notice board and in the notice board of the District Collector Office/ SDO Office nearest to the ITI/ITC/Junior Polytechnic. Formats neatly typed in plain papers and filled in by handwriting will be accepted. The application form is to be filled in by the applicant in ENGLISH in handwriting with ball pen. Trade Courses available for admission: Group wise list of trade courses available for admission are displayed at institute notice board. Availability of trades vary for individual institute. Candidates are to check for the trades available before submission of filled-in application form to any institute.
 Qualification Criterion : ‘E’ Group of Trades: Passed in Class –VIII from any recognized school located with in the State of West Bengal only. Selection will be made in order of merit on the basis of a written test in Mathematics and Physical Science to be held on Sunday, the 3rd June, 2012 (Sunday) . Applicants will appear in the test on producing receipt of the application form, no separate admit cards will be issued.

 The time and venue for the test will be displayed on 30th May’ 2012 at institute notice board, where application is submitted. The candidate who will produce eight passed certificate & Mark Sheet for ‘E’-Group courses should submit a certificate from the local councilor / Panchayat Pradhan /MLA in respect of the existence of the school from where he has passed.

‘B’ Group of Trade :
 Passed in Madhyamik or equivalent examination from any institute of any Board / Council recognized by West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Examination located with in the State of West Bengal only. Selection will be made on the basis of marks obtained in Madhyamik or its equivalent examination. Page 2 of 4 Courses offered for ‘B’ Group Trade: Broad Based Basic Training Courses of 1 (one) year duration in different sectors of ‘Automobile’, ‘Production & Manufacturing’, ‘Instrumentation’, ‘Chemical’, ‘Electrical’, ‘Information Technology’, ‘Food Processing’ ‘Construction and Wood Working’, ‘Fabrication (Fitting & Welding)’, ‘Apparel’, ‘Electronics’ & ‘Hospitality’ etc. which are upgraded into Centres of Excellence . Procedure of Admission at ITI for Physically Challenged Boys and Girls: The admission for physically challenged youths of the following two categories will be held at ITI for Physically Challenged, 110, S.N. Banerjee Road, Kolkata Karigori Bhavan, Kolkata – 700013.

 1. Loco Motor Disability (Disability to move) including leprosy cure 2. Hearing Impaired Trades Offered :

Period of training 1. H-Gr. Trade :- Desk Top Publishing (DTP) 1 year 2. B -Gr. Trade :- Apparel 1 year Eligibility : 1. For DTP : (a) H.S(XII Class) passed under 10 + 2 system from recognized Board / Council (b) Typing Speed of 30 W.P.M. 2. For Apparel : X class passed under 10 + 2 system from recognized Board/ Council. Extent of disability should be 40% and above. Appropriate Certificate of disability issued by the competent authority will be essential.
 Selection of Candidates for ITI for Physically Challenged Boys and Girls :
 Selection of Candidates will be made on the basis of merit panel, interview, aptitude and tests to be conducted by the experts included in the Admission Committee. General Candidates may apply for the above trades (i.e. DTP and Apparel) . If sufficient candidates of the above mentioned disability are not available , the seats will be filled up by General Candidates. Application forms and fees will be the same as other ITIs. Merit List will be published tentatively during 3rd/ 4th week of June’ 2012. Candidates appearing in Madhyamik 2012/ Higher Seconary Examination 2012 may also apply for admission. If the result of Madhyamik/ Higher Secondary Examination is not published with in 11th May 2012, they require to submit filled-in application form within 10 (consecutive) days from the date of publication of result by the Board/ Council.

However, they will only be considered for admission if sufficient number of female candidates are not available against the seats for the Trade Unit at the respective Women ITIs.
